Medical Tubing | Stainless Steel Needle, Hypodermic, Syringe Tube

Stainless Steel Medical Tubing 304 304L, 316 316L

Our stainless steel medical tubing is designed to be used for needle, hypodermic, and syringe purposes in a vast range of sizes and custom sizes, medical tubing is small diameter tubing that is manufactured in tight OD and ID tolerances, standard gauge stainless steel tubing and custom gauge tubing range from gauges 3 to 33, and length of the tubing can be cut to exact specifications, the tight tolerances and uniform dimensions are ideal for applications where accuracy and precision are essential.

Tubing for the medical industry is produced primarily from 304 /304L, 316/316L, and 321 stainless steel. the miniature and thin stainless steel tubing has corrosion resistance and strength properties, the ability to hold very tight OD and ID tolerances as well as ID cleanliness are key features of medical tubing and finished in full hard temper conditions. The outer and inner surfaces of the tubing can be polished on request.

Tubing is made of 304 or 316 grade stainless steel that can be used for a range of application needs. The tolerances for the tubing meet select ASTM and ISO standards.

ASTM A908 – Standard Specification for Stainless Steel Needle Tubing

ASTM A908 covers austenitic, stainless steel, needle tubing in hard-drawn tempers for industrial application. An electric furnace or other similar primary melting process with or without degassing or refining may be used. Needle tubing shall be made by the seamless or welded and drawn process and shall be furnished in the hard-drawn temper condition. Tension tests shall be made to meet the required tensile requirements.

Needle tubing describes small-diameter tubing with outside diameters (ODs) in the range of 0.008 to 0.203 in. (0.2 to 5.2 mm) with nominal wall thicknesses in the range of 0.002 to 0.015 in. (0.05 to 0.4 mm). Needle tubing gages are normally 6 through 33.

We have many years of experience in producing stainless steel needle, hypodermic and syringe tubes conforming to ASTM A908 standard, 304/304L and 316/316L stainless steels are available in a wide range of sizes with tight tolerance, thin wall and small bore hypodermic needle tubing is used for medical industry.

ISO 9626:2016 – Stainless Steel Needle Tubing For The Manufacture Of Medical Devices – Requirements And Test Methods

ISO 9626:2016 applies to rigid stainless steel needle tubing suitable for use in the manufacture of hypodermic needles and other medical devices primarily for human use.

It provides requirements and test methods for the tubes manufactured for needles as component used in medical devices. Additional performance testing on the tube aspect may be required when the component is incorporated in the ready-to-use device.

It specifies the dimensions and mechanical properties of steel tubing of designated metric sizes 3,4 mm (10 Gauge) to 0,18 mm (34 Gauge).
